The New Creature in Christ Jesus
[dcwsb size=”horizontal” align=”right” inline=”true”]
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV
2 Corinthians 5:17 is an often quoted scripture; it’s the foundational scripture for NewLife (NeaZoi) Church. In this three part series, we will take a close look at the new creature: his benefits, his lifestyle and his responsibility.
Three Divine Benefits of the New Creature in Christ Jesus
God’s Core Benefit
God’s new creatures will spend eternity in His presence. Believers can be confident that they will not suffer God’s wrath in the lake of fire, the ultimate destination of all who reject Jesus Christ. Though this would be enough, it is not the only benefit God bestows upon His children. He gives us a blessed spiritual benefit to help us during our time here on earth and an inheritance.
The Holy Spirit – Our Blessed Spiritual Benefit on Earth
The Holy Spirit of God indwells (lives within) the children of God. The fruit (beneficial effect) of the Spirit is experienced in the lives of those that are cooperative; He never forces compliance. The Spirit helps us to live:
- Joyfully,…
Regardless of our circumstances, as we allow His love, joy and peace to rule our hearts
- Harmoniously…
With our fellowman as we permit longsuffering (patience), gentleness (kindness) and goodness to reign
- Reverently…
As we exercise faith, meekness (humility) and temperance (self-control)
It is most certainly wise to allow the Spirit to help us! For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons and daughters of God. Paraphrased Romans 8:14
A Reserved Inheritance – Our Blessed Eternal Benefit
Our earthly lives will end someday, and we will cease to own anything here. We cannot carry anything with us from earth into eternity, but we will not be without possessions for God has reserved an inheritance for us in heaven. The inheritance we receive from our earthly fathers will be ours only as long as we live in these mortal bodies. God’s inheritance will be ours for all eternity.
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:15
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23 KJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. 1 Peter 1:3-5 KJV
